Feeder Contests
Local and state contests can create a pathway to SELF. SELF, in turn, produces the Southeast regional Person of Leather and Master/slave contests that feed the international contests at South Plains Leatherfest.
How the pathway works: The feeder relationship depends on each contest’s current agreement with SELF and the SELF title for which its winner is eligible. Winning a local feeder does not replace SELF’s contestant requirements. Contact SELF below when establishing or confirming a feeder relationship.
North Carolina Leather Contest
NCLC selects a community service titleholder who assists local and regional communities. Since 2008, its titleholder has had a pathway to compete at SELF for an eligible regional title.
Held during Trademark, April 30–May 3, 2026, in Augusta, Georgia. The contest is Saturday, May 2.
North Carolina Bootblack Contest
The North Carolina Bootblack Contest showcases the skill, dedication, and community spirit of bootblacks across the state. It is open to North Carolina residents age 21 or older who identify as bootblacks, regardless of race, religion, gender, or sexual orientation.
Held during the Tarheel Leather Club run in Greensboro, North Carolina, July 17–19, 2026.
South Carolina Leather Contest
The SCLC title is a community service title. Its winner is expected to teach, volunteer, raise funds, attend community events, and serve in ways that fit their strengths. SCLC became a feeder contest for SELF in 2023.
