Massage can be many things, healing, sensual, connective and in the context of service, it becomes something even more powerful. Drawing from the Japanese art of Shiatsu, this class explores how touch can be both a service, a gift and a tool, for your partner and yourself. Shiatsu is a method of finger-pressure massage that works along the body’s meridians (energy pathways) to relieve stress, ease tension, and support overall wellness. Tomo will guide participants through a basic wellness routine focused on the back and neck, along with key pressure points that can help maintain healthy muscle function and energy flow. We’ll touch on foundational concepts from Eastern medicine, including the meridian system and the role of energy balance in healing. You’ll learn how to use your body efficiently, using gravity and leverage instead of muscle strain to offer massage as a sustainable act of care and service. Participation is encouraged but not required. Come learn, watch, or practice and leave with practical skills and a new service to offer.
