Timothy: Mr. SouthEast LeatherFest 2016
“I am humbled, yet overwhelmed with the love and support I have experienced over the entire contest weekend. This is the beginning of a wonderful title year journey!! Bring it on…..”
Timothy got his first taste of Leather venturing into the DC Eagle in mid-1987. It wasn’t until the closing of the Charlotte Eagle that he became an active member of the community, and not just a bystander. When the Woodshed Lounge became the home bar for The Tradesmen, he met and almost immediately got involved with the best group of Leather men that you could ever know. It is through this membership and the exposure from the “inside”, that he was able to witness and experience the Structure, the Brotherhood and the Loyalty this community is based on.
In the five years, that he has been a full member, Timothy has served the Tradesmen, first as a Pledge, then as Secretary, followed by President and now as Vice President. His Club brothers honored him by appointing him as Mr. NC Leather 2013. He was honored as Tradesmen of the Year twice, for the years 2012-2013 and 2014-2015. Earlier this year, he was gifted with and presented his first piece of Leather by boy Dave Hudson at the Tradesmen’s January bar night.
In addition to the Tradesmen, Timothy volunteers at several organizations that serve our community. He is the Sign Language interpreter for R.A.I.N., where he has interpreted the program at the Charlotte AIDS Walk for the last 8 years. He is a working member at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where he serves as a Sign Language interpreter. He is also a volunteer at Great Things and My Sister’s House. He also enjoys raising funds with the Tradesmen for The House of Mercy.
Currently residing in Charlotte, NC, Timothy is a Bartender/Manager at The Woodshed Lounge. He is also a full time student pursuing a degree as a Registered Nurse. Timothy is proud and honored to serve the Leather communities of this region and represent the southeast wherever his travels may take him as the 2015-2016 Mr. SE LeatherFest.

January 2017 Column
Although I am not the best communicating through the Blogs, Mr. S.E.L.F. remains busy representing the South East everywhere I can! My relocation to the North East corridor of the country grants me a paycheck, but it will not cause me to forget my Southern roots and the Leather Community that means so much to me!
One of the things that I have done a better job of during this title reign is to actively participate and volunteer at some of the events I have attended. Last year, I was “in the number” but actively participating has changed my perspective significantly. It also gives S.E.L.F. a much greater visibility in places that didn’t even know we had a Leather Community in the South East. (imagine that!?)
To recap briefly, here are some of the places I have been and some of the events I have attended:
August:
• SELF/Mr. SELF 2016—Atlanta, GA
• Atlanta Eagle
• Charlotte Pride (Honor Guard)—Charlotte, NC
September:
• NY Eagle/Rockbar—New York, NY
• SC Leather Contest (Emcee)—Columbia, SC
• Beers & Bears @ The Bear’s Den—New York, NY
• Philadelphia Leather Pride—Philadelphia, PA
• Catherine Gross’ Intimate conversation at Philadelphia Leather Pride
October:
• Mr. NY Eagle Contest—New York, NY
• American Brotherhood Weekend—Chicago, IL
• Sphinx Virtuosi at Carnegie Hall—New York, NY
• Mr. & Ms. NJ Leather Contest Weekend—Asbury Park, NJ
• ONYX Halloween Party—Washington, DC
December:
• House of Mercy Christmas Dinner—Charlotte, NC
• Tradesmen Bar Night—Charlotte, NC
• Leatherman of Color Contest—Washington, DC
• 12 Days of Christmas—Baltimore, MD
To highlight a few of the most meaningful experiences, I got to be one of the Sign Language Interpreters at Philadelphia Leather Pride. It was totally unexpected, but one person was unable to attend, and I was able to step right in. It was also great to see my new “Title Wife,” Tig, over my shoulder playing Vanna White in Leather during their Auction!
At the SC Leather Contest, I was surprised and honored to be pinned into Mama’s Family! I am now “Mama’s Timothy”!
During the NJ Leather Contest weekend, I was honored to participate by carrying the Leather Pride Flag in the Color Guard during their opening ceremony.
Of course, the House of Mercy functions remain the closest to my heart! This year, at our annual Christmas Dinner, the Tradesmen donated an additional $3000.00 to the House of Mercy. With a subsequent matching gift from an anonymous donor, we donated more than $12,000 during 2016!
That’s all I have for now. I already have a few things to look forward to in 2017. I will try to update and keep you posted on what’s going on. Please stay in touch with me! If you need anything including a request for my presence and/or participation, please don’t hesitate to ask!
I can always be reached through Facebook at Tradesmen Timothy Lee. My email address remains TimothyGLee@aol.com.
Thank you for your continued support! I wish each and every one of you a Happy and a Prosperous 2017!

Mr. SELF 2016 traveled more than 32000 miles during his title year. During that time he marched in 3 Pride parades (Augusta, GA, Charlotte, NC and Columbia, SC.) He attended Atlanta Leather Pride as well as several other Leather runs in High Point, NC (TLC), Columbia, SC (CLO), Charleston, SC where he was the keynote speaker (Low Country Leather).
He attended IML and ABW, both in Chicago, COMMAND and Mr. Maryland Leather in Baltimore, MD, MAL in Washington, DC, NC Leather Contest in Charlotte, NC. (ONYX-Mid Atlantic) and the Leather History Conference in Greensboro, NC.
More importantly, during his year, he participated in several fundraisers. He raised more than 1500.00 for the Charlotte AIDS Walk, More than 1600.00 for the Belmont Walk for AIDS benefiting the House of Mercy and participated in several fundraisers which raised 1000.00 to benefit PULSE Atlanta.
Timothy even traveled to Orlando and spent a week volunteering where ever he could to provide support in the aftermath of that tragedy. He also spent an evening at the Atlanta Eagle, volunteering his time by bartending for the Panthers, so they could mourn the passing of their leader, Sir Alan Penrod.
All over the place, Timothy attended a few BIG TIME fundraisers and GALA Celebrations. One to benefit Domestic Violence featured First Lady Michelle Obama as the keynote speaker. Another, benefited SPHINX was hosted by Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor. He even got to attend a GALA hosted by LGBT Leadership Council featuring POTUS Barrack Obama!
Timothy also traveled to San Francisco, Palm Springs, Miami, FL, Asheville NC, Hickory NC, numerous trips to Atlanta, GA, Raleigh, NC, New York City, Sag Harbour, and Charleston, SC. Too many bars and clubs to mention…he did his best to be everywhere he could!!!
If only there was more time…

Where do I begin?? Actually, it may have been a little easier if I started a few months ago when I was SUPPOSED TO!! Having said that, I will attempt to catch up on this whirlwind of a journey that started as Mr. SELF 2015.
I immediately hit the ground running, joining my title wife, Jennifer as we drove to Augusta, GA to march in the Augusta Pride Parade. A few weeks later I was in Provincetown for Bear Week. In the middle of all of those Bears and Leather Men, I got to have my first shot of Jager with Mama Sandy Reinhardt! After that, I made the quick trip to Charleston, SC for SE Cellblock’s fundraiser and bar night.
August began with the annual cookout hosted by the Charlotte Tradesmen at the House of Mercy. This is one of the most meaningful events that we do, where we actually get to spend time with the residents and staff. Later that month, I was honored to carry the American Flag and lead the Charlotte Pride Parade with the Tradesmen and other Leather Men and Women from NC and SC who made up the Color Guard. I even snuck off to Hickory NC to attend the finals of the National Unlimited Leather Contest.
Just last week, I was in New York City, having been invited to attend the annual LGBT Gala hosted by the Democratic National Committee. The keynote speaker was none other than the President of the United States, Barrack Obama!! All I can say is WOW!!
Each month, I have been fortunate enough to meet so many new people that come through Charlotte and the Woodshed. I continue to be amazed that so many people have taken a moment to say hello and congratulate me.
The next few months will hopefully be just as busy. I’m planning to attend the Leather History Conference in Winston Salem, NC. I’ll be marching in the SC Pride Parade in Columbia, SC. I will also be at CLO’s bar night. Over the next few months, I will attend ABW in Chicago, C.O.M.M.A.N.D. & Mr. Maryland Leather Contest in Baltimore. I also plan to participate in both Mid-Atlantic and South East ONYX bar nights before the end of the year!
In the meantime, I can be found at the Woodshed Lounge on Friday nights. I attend almost every one of Charlotte Tradesmen’s bar nights. (After all, I am the Road Captain). Follow me on Facebook/ Tradesmen Timothy Lee. I’m also on Twitter/@MrSELF2015. Although, I must admit, I haven’t quite gotten the hang of “Tweeting” yet.
In the meantime, know that I am having a BLAST and that I remain HONORED and PROUD to serve as your Mr. S.E.L.F. 2015. I hope to see ALL of you soon!!!
July 2015 Column
WHEW!!!
I just arrived back in Charlotte, and I can honestly say that barely remember the ride home. I can’t believe this whirlwind of a weekend passed by so quickly!! This whole experience has been a blur…
What I remember at this moment, is everyone that told me to breathe, and to have FUN!!! I must admit that I could not really process the concept of FUN during the competition weekend, because I was focused on overcoming my own anxieties and my own quest for perfection. Obviously, I didn’t forget to breathe, but I have 363 days ahead of me to have FUN!!!
Now to the many people that I need to thank:
To boy Dave…thank you for EVERYTHING you did as my handler over the SELF weekend! Knowing that I had you in my corner, took so much stress of my plate, as I knew that I could depend on you to address every detail that I may have overlooked! More importantly thank you for holding my hand and guiding my steps in the beginning stages of this journey, when I didn’t know anything or anyone. Thank you for gently nudging me in the right directions and also giving me the space I needed to grow. If I am ever to measure my successes as a Leather Man, it will be when I am able to look at myself and know that I gave the same support and advice and nurturing to someone at the start of their journey, that you gave to me…
To Catherine Gross and the entire Board of Directors and the Staff and volunteers of S.E.L.F….
Thank you for continuing the traditions of excellence. Thank you for not only running a professional contest, but for running an organization that continues to provide so much for this Leather community. I am PROUD to be your “Mr.” representative.
To our judges…
Thank you for your critiques, your wisdom, your professionalism and your belief in me. Thank you for awarding me the title of Mr. SELF 2015. You ALL are role models in the Leather Community, and I can only hope to achieve the success and the respect that you have earned. I am empowered by the tasks ahead of me, and I will certainly do my best to live up to your expectations.
To my SELF 2015 Family…Jennifer, Autumn, Friday, Miss Kitty, Coco, & Kittin,
It was a pleasure and an honor to compete with each and every one of you. I learned something valuable from all of you and look forward to working all of you in some way. On a special note, Ms., I think our adventures are just beginning!! Look out SE, here we come!!
To The Tradesmen…
I could not ask for a better group of gentlemen to share this honor with. I am honored to be your Club Brother. I am honored that you saw fit to bestow the title of Mr. NCLC 2013, when we inherited a struggling contest. Although it was made clear that I was only expected to be the “face” of NCLC, you ignited spark in me and let me know that I could advance to bigger and better things.
To Greg Brafford, and the Staff and Patrons of the Woodshed and SHED Leathers…
Thank you for your sponsorship! Thank you for your patience! Thank you for the MANY weekends that I have taken off and for the ones that I haven’t asked for yet!
Thank you to all of the people who I failed to mention. Thank you to all of the names I don’t know. Thank you for all of your kind words of encouragement, your well wishes, your stories, your whistles, your “WOOF’s”, your flirtations, your hugs, your tears, your invitations, your acknowledgements, your critiques, your love, your congratulations and your expectations…
I will do my best to not just live up to, but to exceed your expectations. I pledge my 100% to being the best titleholder EVER!!!

Wow, what a whirlwind it’s been since that amazing Saturday night in August. Where do I even start?
Winning the Ms SouthEast LeatherFest title for me is something that, quite frankly, I’m not sure has fully sunk in yet. I originally was planning to run for this title a few years ago, but things happened and I was never able to make it happen. Honestly, I was worried that I was going to lose momentum and not ever get back to doing the title run for a while. So for me, winning SELF is a bit of a major battle won in my life for so many different reasons that I won’t delve into; that’s a few stories for another time. I didn’t think I would ever do it, but here I am and I have done it and I couldn’t be more excited about it.
I hit the ground running back into the real world and life immediately after SELF ended as well as jumping right into as many events as I could make.
First up I had South Carolina Pride in Leather in Columbia, SC.
Tom and Peach put on an amazing event! In addition to their contest, which featured the new title of South Carolina Leather Ambassador, it was like being at a Leather run, with parties and cocktail hours running seemingly nonstop. It was amazing to be there and I seriously suggest putting it on your calendars for next year. LE, American Leatherwoman 2015, did a special showing of High Shine - Fifteen Years of International Ms Boothblack, a documentary about the history behind the Ms Bootblack title, and just wow. If you love bootblacks, are a bootblack, or just want to learn more about an important piece of our culture and history, do yourself a favor and make sure you watch this amazing film. It was an amazing start to my title year to spend the weekend with most of my sash family, Tori, Bella, rooks, and Timothy, in addition to sash-mom Jennifer.
The highlight of the weekend was being able to watch two incredible people compete for the new title. It was nail biting to watch two people have the same message and drive but from two different angles. There was no clear winner and I know I wasn’t the only one watching on the edge of my seat wondering who was going to win. But the judges and producers made an unprecedented decision to award the title to both contestants. Troy and Jay, I am so excited and proud of you both! Congratulations again you two, I look forward to watching you both over this next year.
Almost right after SC Pride in Leather I took off to head up North for the next few weeks for work. I’m in an around the Mid-Atlantic area for most of the next several months through Christmas. While I miss being in the South and all the amazing events going on at home, I have been more than excited to meet a whole new group of people up here and experience their events.
This past Saturday was my first Philadelphia Leather event at Philadelphia Leather Pride Night. Now for those of you who don’t know me, I grew up in the Philadelphia area, but as soon as I turned legal I ran away to the South for college. So even though I’m from here and always have a soft spot in my heart for the city of brotherly love, I have never made it to any kind of event here.
And just wow. The Philadelphia community is incredible! Everyone there welcomed me with open arms and even let me jump right in and help out with the biggest charity event of the year. Seriously, I am still processing this event, but it is definitely one that I want to go back to every year. The love and sense of community and belonging is exactly what you’d expect, and it didn’t matter that they’d never met me before, I was welcomed and loved unconditionally by everyone who I met there. I am doing a terrible job of describing it, but this event was incredible. I was also fortunate enough to get to spend the evening with Timothy and Lady Catherine, so even though we were all far from home, we still had our family.
It’s surprised me just how supportive really can be. Perhaps I just have this bad habit of not asking for help or merely expecting people to not want to help or be supportive, but at times it has been overwhelming for me at seeing just how many people have offered up support for me after what feels like only knowing them for a short time. It’s humbling, honestly. But it’s taught me that Leather is really where the heart is since home is where the heart is.
As for goals for this year? Right now I want to keep spreading my wings and making all these amazing connections. I really enjoy volunteering at events and helping out, it’s one of those ways where I instantly know that I’ve done something. Maybe I’m just a volunteer-slut. I also am excited about teaching more this year and have all ready been asked by several groups to come and teach, in addition to reaching out past my home area and my comfort zone. As soon as I know dates and final details, you’ll know too!
In the end, I’m excited for the time I get to spend representing SouthEast LeatherFest over the next several months. I’m excited for all the new opportunities I have, to make new connections, and to further grow as a person myself.
January 2017 Column
It's hard to believe that it's a new year all ready and just about half way through my title year.
So where have I been? Man, I've been everywhere it seems. I spent most of the past few months up in the north east for work, but I was able to attend several events while I was there.
I pulled double duty first, working at New York Comic Con during the day and then at night I was making it out to the first Northeast Puppy and Handler Contest. This was my first time going to an event where I knew no one in attendance. I learned about the event from Erick, International Mr Bootblack 2016, and we've talked online a bit, but I didn't have any one who was part of my community with me. NYC Puppies and Handler were so welcoming to this southern girl! They immediately made me feel welcomed and like I was home even though they'd never met me before. It was wonderful to watch Damien become the first Northeast Handler and Vidhra the first Northeast Puppy. NYC-PAH did such a great job with this contest for their first year. Little did I know that this was going to be such a gateway moment for me into the world of puppies and handlers.
The following weekend I was just going to go to the meet and greet for the Mid-Atlantic Puppy and Handler Contest. I grabbed Damien at the bus stop in Philadelphia and we headed down to Pup Indigo’s, Mid-Atlantic Drummer Boy 2016, and I ended up spending the entire weekend at the contest. It was such an amazing weekend and I got to spend more time around puppies and attended my first puppy mosh in addition to being able to help out with Puppymon Go, a puppy obstacle course designed by Indigo. I never expected to find myself in the role of being a handler, but the sheer fun and joy of it softened the shock of discovering something new about myself. Long story short, puppies make me happy and I am so excited to explore this new part of myself. Saturday night, Mika aka Pup Ruckus, was named the new Mid-Atlantic Puppy. He is such a sweet and wonderful person, I know he'll do great this year with the title.
There doesn't seem to be any rest for the wicked, and at the last minute I decided to go to my third event in a row and attend New Jersey Leather Weekend, home of the New Jersey Leather Contest. Nikki, Ms New Jersey Leather 2014, was a wonderful host and it was so great to see her again after meeting her at NEPAH Contest two weeks prior. I finally got to meet people who I'd only interacted with online in addition to seeing people I hadn't seen since Philadelphia Leather Pride Night. I even got to spend the weekend with the amazing Timothy again. Seriously, a girl could not ask for a more supportive and caring sash husband. The weekend was amazing, with various classes and great social moments, it was like this huge reunion of puppies, Leathermen, Leatherwomen, and everyone inbetween. You can tell that the New Jersey Leather community is a close one, family is definitely a value that they hold dear. Saturday night the contest culminated with Richard and Velvet Storm being named the new Mr and Ms New Jersey Leather.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time up North. It allowed me to spread my wings in a way and further explore what Leather means to me on a personal level while getting to experience a different Leather culture than the one I’ve grown up in. There really is no one and only way to do what we do. We are all a tribe of sorts and within the larger picture, each region has its own values and traditions that it seems to place in different orders than the other areas. It’s exciting, being able to see values of my own reflected in someone else despite us coming from two different backgrounds and regions. I really do look forward to traveling to new areas that I’ve never been to before and, hopefully, getting involved with the Leather community there. It sounds sappy, I know, but this title has given me a chance to explore this world of ours more, and I feel a bit like Belle when she first steps into the Beast’s library, wide eyed and excited.
I want to keep growing, learning, teaching, and experiencing over this next year. Even after I step down I want to keep doing whatever it is that I can do to help others learn, grow, and experience. Soon I’ll be turning 28, and I never thought I would be exactly where I am today. Despite all the reasons that we have to be afraid in the next year or more, I’m excited about all the good things that are still to come and being able to take more steps on my journey.
A big thank you to Indigo, Nikki, and Amanda, Florida Community Bootblack 2016. Thank you and your houses for housing me and taking care of me when I’ve stayed with you. You all are truly amazing people and I’m so glad that our paths crossed and that I have had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with all of you.
March 2017 Column
I know I’ve said this a lot, but I can hardly believe that I have sixteen weeks left in being the Ms SouthEast LeatherFest. I really don’t know where the time has gone.
So where have I been since we left off?
In January I celebrated my 28th birthday, and rather than stay at home where there was a looming threat of snow, I boogied on down to Florida for Kinky Camp Out in Palm City. It was amazing event, very small and intimate, on one of the most beautiful camp grounds I have ever seen. I got to see a lot of people who I hadn’t seen since SELF, and it was really great to be able to spend some one on one time and be able to get to know people better than I could while competing. It was so great to spend time with Amanda, Florida Community Bootblack 2016, even as we sat huddled around camp fires in the cold and then listened to the rain and thunder in our tents. I wouldn’t trade that weekend for the world because I also got to educate, and hopefully light a spark in, people about Leather and what it means to me. I got to talk to people about bootblacking and what exactly a contest was, and they had never heard of Leather before or had very little knowledge of it. Those moments are still with me and I hope I never forget them. A big thank you to Daddy Joe and Ember for letting me share your tent with you and helping me make these memories!
The following weekend I was honored to present my intro to polyamory class in Spartanburg, South Carolina with Piedmont Area Kinksters. The class went over really well and I did my best to cover topics that I wish someone had talked to me about when I first started practicing ethical non-monogamy. From types of relationships, to communication, to problem solving scenarios from questions asked by the class, it really was a great night and I am so glad that they invited me to teach. Thank you, Carlton!
The first weekend in February I got to pop back into The Woodshed in Charlotte, NC to see the ever wonderful Charlotte Tradesmen. It was a quiet night, my first time back to a bar night since August. I am so fortunate to have such an amazing group of people in one place, and getting to spend some “down” time in my home area was really invigorating.
After that I put a few hundred more miles on my car again and drove back up to Philadelphia to attend several events going on for the Mr and Ms Philadelphia Leather Contest. Friday night I attended Clutch/the send off party for Rudy and Alaina, Mr and Ms Philadelphia Leather 2016 respectively. To say that I got to spend time with old friends and new is an understatement as so many of my new connections from the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast area were there, it was like coming home for me now as opposed to a few months ago when I first came to the area knowing almost no one. That Saturday I spent the day at the Puppy and Handler Social that was hosted by Northeast Pup and Handler 2017, Vidhra and Sir Damien, and Mid-Atlantic Puppy 2017, Rukus. There was such a great turn out for that social! I really have learned to value the time I get in such intimate settings with people. Often times I feel like I miss the chance to really have deep, meaningful connections and conversations, so getting to be at an event where I get to have those moments has become one of my favorite things. That night we were back at The Bike Stop for the contest. A big congratulations again to Nick and Heather on becoming Mr and Ms Philadelphia Leather 2017! I stuck around afterwards for a bit to meet people who’d I’d only connected online previously before. Alaina was gracious enough to open her home to a few of us that night, and the discussions and conversations over the best pho delivery are some I will cherish forever. Thank you for allowing that to happen, Alaina!
My trip north didn’t last long, I left to go to DC to work, then I hopped over immediately to Chattanooga for work again, though this time I got to reunite with my extended sash family, Autumn. While I was at Connooga for work, Autumn and I found out that the con was having a charity auction and we put together a basket for them. I am proud to say that ours was one of the most successful and brought in a sizable donation for the con! Not only that, but I was also asked to not only sit on, but lead an advanced BDSM panel Saturday night at con. I am still incredibly floored and honored at being asked to do so. The discussion that my three other panelists and I had was incredibly informative and productive, all of us trying to make sure that we covered the things that we wished we had heard sooner in the lifestyle rather than having to learn it the hard way. Advanced BDSM is such a wide topic, but I feel like we all did a great job that night.
And that leads us to March. Phew. Every time I wonder what have I done, I write one of these blogs and I realize that I have been a lot of places in a short amount of time. I have taught classes, welcomed new titleholders, and yet I’m still not done yet.
This first weekend of March I’ll be at Bluegrass Leather Pride in Louisville, Kentucky. I am so excited to be attending and glad that I could work it into my schedule.
I also just launched a fundraiser for Bootblack Nona. If you haven’t heard of her before, she is the first bootblack titleholder for South Africa. She was given her first kit in 2014 and since then has been learning the art and skill of being a bootblack via Skype with her mentor. That level of determination is admirable. In December of 2016, she competed and won the title of SA Bootblack 2017. She’s going to represent her title at International Ms Bootblack in San Jose, California this year, but unfortunately her club and travel fund cannot cover the expense of traveling across the globe to represent. So in an effort to help, I designed a t-shirt inspired by the musical Hamilton, a show that has made it’s own mark in history, much like Nona has. The campaign will be running until March 23rd, and you can find it here. (https://teespring.com/sa-bootblack-2017-imsbb-fund#pid=2&cid=2397&sid=front)
I don’t think I can ever say it enough, but thank you to all of those who have helped me. Thank you for being supportive of me, thank you for opening your homes to me, thank you for the smiles, hugs, and love. I don’t know what I would be without you, but I am better because of you.
Until next time!

Ms Tori Jones: SouthEast Bootblack 2016
From a very early age Ms Tori knew she was not like the other people she hung around with. Searching for answers into her adulthood led her to stumble across Alt.com. Like so many others in the internet age, Tori found the sign posts pointing her in the direction to search for her answers. She was invited to attend a dungeon in Greensboro, NC in 2005, and that opened her eyes to a whole new reality.
Family issues required Ms Tori to step away from the scene for a while, but she was able to continue her education through conversations with other Dominants in the lifestyle. In March 2008 she was able to resume participating actively in her local community. Ms Tori attended educational presentations and became the student of Evil_Geoff and later his partner.
She has attended educational seminars and presentation/demos by Lady Catherine Gross, Artemis Hunter, Kim Attica, Lady D Harrison, Lady Beth, Boomer, Wayne Brawner, Master Z of Texas, Glenda Rider, Jack Rinella, Master Taino and others. She has attended SouthEast Leather Fest, North Carolina Leather Contest, South Carolina Leather contest, SouthEast Conference of Clubs and numerous groups across the Carolinas and Virginia. Ms Tori has been both a Den Mama and Judge for SCLC and Den Mama for SECC. She has also co-presented with Evil_Geoff on several topics across the Carolinas, Virginia, Tennessee, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas and Las Vegas.
Ms Tori started bootblacking years before she found BDSM or Leather. She was shining her and her late husband’s boots prior to going out dancing, as far back as 2000. It was not until she found Leather that she also learned the term bootblack. For years she performed the tasks of blacking without calling herself a bootblack. It was not until she started bootblacking at/for charity events that she started using the term in reference to herself. When she blacks at events, tips are split between the event charity and one of her own, unless otherwise specified.
In August 2011, Ms Tori was accepted as a member of The Tarheel Leather Club and was elected to two terms as the club's President, from 2012-2014, and two terms as the club Treasurer, from 2014-2016. Ms Tori has been involved with the running and/or production of Leather History Conference since the first year. In 2015, she was one of the 2 co-producers of LHC. In 2016, when the founder and producer of Leather History Conference had to step back from the event, Tori stepped up to become one of the two event producers. Ms Tori is the representative for Team Friendly NC, Triad Area. In 2016 Ms Tori also co-founded the Leather History Preservation Foundation, a registered non-profit, where she is the Executive Director. She is an ally and activist in the fight for equality.

Oct 2016 Column
So here I am thinking How did I get HERE? and then I remember. I received a phone call that went basically you should do this thing because girl, you are good enough and some other stuff was said but that is the part that stuck with me the most. I thought about it, talked about it with the family, then decided to just do it. And there I was, at SELF, running for the bootblack title and at the end of Saturday I realized, I AM good enough and others thought so as well.
The trip to Atlanta was not just for a weekend. With SELF at the end of August, I also had DragonCon the following weekend. We worked it out to spend 2 weeks in Atlanta. SouthEast LeatherFest was AMAZING on so many levels. I pushed my personal boundaries and fears and ran for the bootblack title. This meant facing the fear of being on stage talking to people. This meant that people would judge ME and that on this weekend, their judgment mattered. This meant being on the front line. And I did all those things and I have no regrets for it either.
Now where have I been since we left the hotel that Sunday? Well, I didn’t leave Atlanta but instead went to stay at a friend’s house and your SouthEast Bootblack 2016 first made an appearance at DragonCon, the weekend following SELF. I put on my Leather Pride outfit and walked around looking at all the people in their costumes. I wonder how many were trying to figure out which Sci-Fi character I was that day. It was not a Leather event nor was it even a kink event, but I was there and my patch was proudly on display.
After returning home and sleeping in my bed 3 nights, I headed out to South Carolina Pride in Leather II so that I could be the Den Mama to some wonderful contestants, running in the South Carolina Leather Contest for the South Carolina Leather Ambassador title. Both Troy and Jay were wonderful. They both spoke of unity in Leather and the need for it. Each spoke of their view point and it was quite interesting to see 2 very different people approach the same topic from different angles. At the end of the weekend, both had scores that could win them the title and it seems they were close together also because the judges did what they felt was the right thing to do and awarded both contestants the title. South Carolina has 2 outstanding Leather Ambassadors representing them this year.
Heading home from South Carolina meant PRIDE SEASON had really started for me locally. First up was September 17 bringing Greensboro Pride, where I stood proudly representing and letting the attendees know that they were far better than the hate they would see and hear that day. And at the end of the day I had 5 young LGBTQIA people come to me and thank me for being there, taking time to talk to them and support them in being their authentic selves. I left the day with a smile in my heart knowing I was present and I was seen, heard, appreciated and I made a difference.
September 24 was North Carolina Pride in Durham, NC and this day would be different. I put on the Leather Pride outfit and marched in the parade with a full Leather Contingent that represented Leather folk from across the state. We marched, we cheered, and we were louder than the hate. When the parade was over, most went to the festival, but I had to get moving because 2 lovely dear friends were getting married on this day. The perfect day for 2 ladies to be joined in wedding bliss – the day of PRIDE!
October 1 was my local Pride, Alamance Pride. Only in the 2nd year, the event was joyous and rather peaceful, boating a whole 3 protestors. I walked around talking to others, hearing their stories and giving my own. I was able to spend a little time with 3 of The Smokin’ Cardinal Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence from the Raleigh. They are always a pleasure to be around. I ended the day by going to Charlotte to spend time with and bootblack for the Charlotte Tradesmen on their bar night at the Woodshed Bar. They have given me support and cheered me along in my title run. I wanted to see them and do some blacking during their bar night. The day was long and well worth it as I got to see my title mama, Marcie Friday.
October 15 will round out my Pride season with Winston-Salem Pride and I am certain it will be as enjoyable as it always has been. I will stand and be counted as a person who stands against hate, because that is part of what it is that I do.
The last weekend in October will be a big weekend for me as that is Leather History Conference. I have been working a year toward this weekend. As one of the 2 producers, it has been a busy time getting together quality storytellers, valuable staff and crew to work the conference, ensuring a quality hotel that will not discriminate against any of our people and making sure there are outstanding bootblacks to keep everyone looking great. I am hoping to find and hour or 2 so that I can do some blacking at this event. I will have my kit as it seems to travel with me these days.
I am touched by the number of people who have sent me notes of congratulations. The offers of support to help me throughout my title year have amazed me. I know that I am seen. And this year will make a difference in the people and boots I will encounter.
There are not enough words to express the gratitude I have for those who have supported me since the day I announced that I would run for the title. I need to start with my family, Geoff-my ever patient partner in life and Lily- my supportive daughter who held down the home while Geoff and I were in Atlanta. All of those who donated money and goods towards my auction baskets and title year travel fund baskets: Barking Leather, Boy toxic, CAPEX, Charlotte Tradesmen, Christine J Sakura House, ClawClan, David Wishman, Dubie, Fresh Look Designs, Jade LeBlade, JoAnn S, Kumasan, Machele’s Creations, Marv The Carpenter, Mikey, NCMaster, Northman, Panther ProwLs Enterprise, PatchworkLeatherToys, Pindependant.com, Sin in the City, Sir Malcavian, Sir Rob, boy Brian & pup Seawolf, Susie Q Yeldah Tova, Tarheel Leather Club, Trevor Shepherd, Wishcraft, Brutalpassion.com, without you, I could not have successfully competed for the title and this next year would be most difficult.
A big thank you to the volunteers and staff who manned SELF, before, during and after the event to make it possible. I would like to also thank the SouthEast LeatherFest sponsors: Starship, H20, Leatherati, Bulldog Custom Leather, RSVP, Red Stick TNG, CAPEX, House of Trei, Frolicon, OB and Angel, Marty and Petal, Anguirel and Lucifyre, The Woodshed and FIRE, Relationship Equality Foundation, ONYX Southeast, PleasureBound.net, MAsT International, without all of you, SELF would not be possible.
The future looks bright, and busy for me, although the next 2 months will be my slowest of times. In November I will attend some bar nights of clubs and checking with their people to see if I am able to be of service and bootblack for their clubs. And I will have some quality family time during the Thanksgiving weekend. December will have me in Baltimore, MD for the annual 12 Day’s fundraising event. I will go to see some I do not get to see often. I am on the schedule to do some blacking and I hear there is an outstanding lineup of bootblacks that day. I am hoping we raise a good amount of money for the charities that have been selected this year. The end of the month will bring more family time with the Christmas holiday and I do plan to enjoy that time.
I can’t wait to see what 2017 will hold for me.
January 2017 Column
Happy New Year to everyone! Has it really been 3 months already? The end of year brings my most quiet months for winding down the end of the year and preparing for the beginning of a new year.
October brought the end of my Pride season with Winston-Salem Pride on October 15. The event was fairly calm with a few protestors on the corners. I walked the event and talked to several people who asked about my patch. Some seemed interested and took a card so they could look up SELF and check it out as they felt it was a place they would find like-minded people.
I have indeed found both diverse people and boots in my travels thus far and I do celebrate each and every one. The time and energy we have shared has kept my faith in humanity. I know there is good out there to be found. And boots…mmmmmm boots. I have had the pleasure of putting my hands on some lovely boots both new and old of people in our communities. I have had the joy of blacking virgin leather to leather that is 20+ years old. I am definitely a lucky lady.
The rest of the month of October had me preparing for the weekend of October 27-30 for the 6th Leather History Conference. I was one of two producers for the event and we had an awesome line up of people to share their history. We had a nice bootblacking team to take care of the leathers and I was sad that I could not join them. As the Southeast Bootblack, I put on a cocktail party with a cinnamon apple drink that seems to have gone over pretty well. It was wonderful to stand in front of the people and represent my title. The weekend brought many smiles, hugs and tears as we all saw people we had not seen in a while then had to part ways at the end of the event. I would like to thank Gypsie Wind-Feather Ferris for asking Dave and myself to produce the 2016 conference, the core crew who stepped up in roles as necessary and the working crew for doing all the things. You all helped make the conference a success.
November found me with much needed home and family time.
December 3, I joined the Charlotte Tradesmen for their annual House of Mercy holiday dinner followed by their Toys for Tots toy drive and bar night at the Woodshed Bar in Charlotte, NC. There were men and women in leather, boots, bootblacking, cigars, lots of toys gathered and many smiles. It was a joy to be able to support the Tradesmen on this day and evening. And the jello shots were not bad either.
Unfortunately, it isn’t all fun and play in the life of a titleholder. December 8 I was faced with the death of my rock, Mom. She was the lady who first introduced me to the joyous smell of leather. Being faced with the trip South, I knew I needed energy to carry me through, so I followed through with my plans for the weekend.
December 10 I attended the 18th Annual 12 Days of Christmas in Baltimore were I was scheduled to black a 3 hour shift next to Erick, International Mr Bootblack 2016. Domina Silver joined us on the ride and was a great travel companion. Once we arrived, I was greeted with love and positive energy. I cannot express enough how everyone affected me that day. My internal battery was fully charged, as was my backup emotional battery. I touched a few pair of boots, some from people I have known and some from people I just met. All the boots made my heart smile as I was able to lay hands on them and take care of them. I had chosen to give half my tips to the charities of 12 Days and together, we did a wonderful job of supporting the event to raise $13,865 to be split for the 4 charities. The event was wonderful and one I will be attending again in 2017. The end found me walking out the door with instant event drop only to be lifted up again. Buz Norwood invited us to join a group for dinner and was rather insistent. We joined Lee and Buz Norwood, Margaret Irene, Jack Malone and Susan Weinstein at G&M Restaurant and I had one of the most amazing crab cake sandwiches with some amazing she crab soup and most importantly, the time and energy I needed to wind down the event and be as ready as possible for my next journey. On Sunday, we got back with Domina Silver and started our trek back home. For me, arriving home was nothing more than changing the auto I was in so that my daughter, Lily Mia Lilith, and I headed to take care of our family business. On our return to NC, we stopped in Atlanta for a late dinner with none other than David Labriola. It was wonderful to be able to share some time with him and to give myself a little recharge. I returned home with a week to plan Christmas.
Since returning home I have been a bit of a hermit focused on family and self-care, but it is now time to come out of the shell and back to traveling and bootblacking.
I am looking forward to seeing people on my future travels.
• January 7, I will be blacking at The Charlotte Tradesman’s bar night at the Woodshed Bar.
• February 2-5 will find me at Sin in the City, where I will be teaching a bootblacking class and taking some blacking shifts.

March 2017 Column
Time goes by so quickly it seems, even when you are recharging your internal battery and making plans for the months to come.
January ended up being my most quiet month so far. I had to cancel going to see the Charlotte Tradesmen due to the weather. I spent time at home with my family to recharge from the end of 2016 and make plans for the future. When looking at my boots I realized I needed to take care of them from the future travels. So this was the month to pull out the kit at home and do some boots and have them ready for my travels to come. My bootblack title pins arrived and that was a major excitement for me as I had completed the design months earlier and was finally able to order them and have them with me for my February travels.
February 1, I caught the red eye flight to start the trek to Las Vegas to attend Sin in the City. I enjoy this event because we are able to spend an entire week in Vegas and visit some wonderful people. This year proved to be another wonderful year. I blacked many hours and was able to enjoy such a diverse group of people and foot attire. From the older man with the brown dress shoes who didn’t know if I would want to bother with his simple shoes to the beautiful knee high boots with lots of buckles with the beautiful young lady wearing them, the new boots that were less than a month old to the boots that have not seen love in many years and the brown was showing through. I loved them all. My title sister Abizzy was representing her title on the stage at this event and I was there to support her. I was able to enjoy some quiet time in her room giving her boots some love. The people and the stories were wonderful. At this event I was able to meet someone who has been bootblacking 20+ years whom I have been communicating with online. I really enjoyed blacking next to Izzy and watching how she does things. This year I taught a basic bootblacking class for the non-bootblack titled “Yes Sir, you too can shine your boots”. Watching a lady who was afraid to touch her Sir’s boots take care of them in class and walk out with a smile made it worth my time and effort. We wrapped up the weekend and spent some quality time with local friends and returned home Feb 7.
I had a week home to unpack and repack for the SECC weekend Feb 16-19. This was another event where I was able to black and enjoy quality time with the bootblack contestant, Shaun Cameron, and to have some wonderful Leather men and Leather women in my chair. We arrived late on Thursday so no real time to socialize that night. On Friday evening the fun was to start and we set up the stands to do some bootblacking. I blacked contestant boots, work boots of an attendee, old boots and new boots. Each had a history to tell and a wonderful person to tell that history. To black the boots of a bootblack is always a challenge to me because I want them to be perfect. I was graced with that honor this weekend and it was a pleasure. I was able to donated half my tips to the travel funds for the winners and we raised some decent funds this year. It was nice to have a line of people waiting to get their boots done. There was tall ones and short ones, zippers, buckles, laces and pull on boots. Some were new and others were 20 years old. I enjoyed every pair of boots and every person wearing them.
I am looking forward to seeing people on my future travels.
• March 4 Charlotte Tradesmen bar night
• March 10-12 will be the Leather Leadership Conference in Atlanta, GA, where I will be taking some blacking shifts and extended stay in Atlanta for a week with a friend.
• April 1 Charlotte Tradesmen bar night
• April 7-9 Atlanta Leather Pride
• April 21-23 Coastal Empire Sentinels Annual Run: Back to Basics, The River's Edge, Dewy Rose, GA
• May 5-7 TradeMark XXXI - 31 Flavors, One Community, Charlotte, NC.

Oct 2016 Column
The journey of winning the 2016 SouthEast Master/slave title was exhilarating and intoxicating. Admittedly, also a bit nerve-wracking! We suspect that was due to our being rookies to the leather contest experience. That nervousness was gradually extinguished by the ceaseless kindness and reassuring energy we received throughout SELF weekend.
Also, being in the contest was a very introspective process. Win or lose, we think it's fair to say it is impossible for a couple to come out of it not learning more about themselves and each other. As an M/s couple we have relished at how entwined we are. The contest made us channel what we'd been feeling into words. The contest was a gift. We will always be thankful for it.
A surprise for us is just how hooked we've become on traveling to events. With that said, it is little surprise just how much more intolerable to the work week has gotten! Come Wednesday we find ourselves clawing for the weekend to arrive so that we can hit the road or get on that next flight.
We recently had a great time at South Carolina Pride in Leather II. Around the corner for us is GLLA, Leather History Conference, and Leather Reign. Beyond that, we are planning to attend events and visit groups in all four corners of the nation with an added emphasis on the southeast.
To our judges (Sir David Labriola, Angel Propps, Master Dragon, Khaz, and Robbie), thank you for taking the time to serve as judges for SELF. Thank you for your combined insight and wisdom. Moreover, thank you for entrusting us with the privilege of representing our wonderful southeast region. Ms. Suzan and MAsT International, thank you for your advice and assistance in our travels. To Lady Catherine Gross, you are right. You do run a lovely house and family that is SELF; we are grateful to have been allowed to be part of it.
A special thank you to the SELF attendees and volunteers. Attendees and volunteers are actually too passive words to describe the continued outpouring of positivity, dedication, and support we received during SELF. We think better terms are participants and devotees, respectively. Thank you. You brought the energy and fun to a weekend that will not be forgotten.
We are honored, privileged, and excited to be representing the southeast region during our mission to provide education and promote the M/s dynamic.

Welcome to 2017!!!
This year promises to be filled with more connections and fun.
During our travels we've been blessed to visit several groups and individuals interested in learning about our M/s dynamic.
A few visits consisted of MAsT: WV.
These wonderful people welcomed us with open arms and I can't begin to tell you how much fun we had.
We led a conversation concerning how the M/s dynamic is effected when Master is physically ill and not able to make decisions.
We also had the opportunity to present a mock scene negotiation for the SMacKed Demo & Party.
In December we were featured during the
Lifestyle Lighthouse Call In
discussing authority based relationships and the wonderful play but what happens when the going gets rough, how we keep going - touching on the strength and unity of our relationships and how we endure real life events together as Master & slave.
As usual the shared conversations and laughs over the last few months left us all a bit more educated and excited about the future.
Unfortunately on Thanksgiving we experienced a family trauma and as usual our community near and far came together with words of comfort and support. We cant begin to express how thankful we are to our community for carrying us through the sadness. This response was just another confirmation that we serve a group of human beings that are amazing.
We're looking forward to a full schedule starting this month and we're preparing for the Master & slave International Competition at South Plains Leatherfest in March.
Our 2017 schedule is filling up quickly.

As I try to put pen to paper in the hopes of sharing what we've been doing, I have no idea where to start.
We are always blessed to be in contact or surrounded by an amazingly supportive community, a wonderful sash family and our chosen family as we represent our SouthEast M/s title.
Last month we attended Southwest Leather Conference and had the opportunity to visit with all of the M/s area title holders. It was more than an honor to be a part of this group.
We are now preparing for South Plains Leatherfest International M/s title competition in 2 weeks and are working hard to represent our a South East area proudly.

ABizzy: SouthEast Person of Leather 2016
ABizzy originally hails from Hattiesburg, MS, though these days she and her poly family call Baton Rouge, LA home. She spends her days wrangling little people and their parents at her mundane service industry job, while the rest of the time, ABizzy devotes her life to her family and her leather life. She was introduced to BDSM and the leather life seven years ago when she first moved to the Baton Rouge area. That started a journey that has included participation in groups across Louisiana and Mississippi. SELF has been a big part of her leather path as well. She attended her first SELF in 2013, and received her first gifted leather from River, 2013’s SELF Boy, as he stepped down from his title in 2014. ABizzy is the co-founder and Head Little in Charge of Red Stick TNG. She and her co-leaders are dedicated to education; to that end, they plan and host regular, bi-monthly socials and munches, many with an educational topic and often with a guest speaker to bring new information to the TNG group. She and her co-leaders work closely with the leader of Baton Rouge’s local dungeon RSVP to bring TNG-hosted events to the RSVP community, furthering not only TNG’s educational focus, but helping RSVP achieve their own educational goals as well. These events have fostered a solid relationship between the TNG membership and RSVP, helping both groups grow and thrive. ABizzy recently accepted a position as treasurer on the board of the new Baton Rouge Chapter of Little Scouts. And in February, she was honored to be asked to serve as Tally master at the recent resurrection of the Mr. Houston Leather contest. ABizzy is a leathergirl, babygirl, bootblack, mentor, teacher, crochet enthusiast, dog lover and rescuer, extreme couponer and Disney addict all rolled up in one adorable, dynamic package.

Wow, it seems like just yesterday that I was standing on stage, turning bright red as Darryl Flick asked my oh-so-surprising POP question. My experience running for SouthEast Person of Leather is one that I would never change. Starting with the moment I turned in the application until the time I left the hotel, the entire experience just seems like a whirlwind. I never expected how many amazing people I would get to meet and how many interesting things that I learned from my new friends. I even learned that Tiger Balm can eat through a condom!
I think the most important thing I learned, and what stuck with me the most during my title run, is that SELF is family. No matter what I needed someone was there to help – even if it was just to listen to my speech for the 100th time – and for this I am forever grateful. You guys are such an amazing group of people I don’t even know where to begin. I would like to thank my chosen family for all their love and support. I would not have EVER been able to accomplish this goal without their help. I would like to thank my awesome friends for being silly with me in my fantasy. I would like to thank the_boyy for tolerating all of my neurotic planning and for listening to my speech and introduction for 9 hours on the car ride to Atlanta. I would like to thank my home club/community RSVP and RedStickTNG. You have all been so supportive, encouraging and generous even when we had so much turmoil going on here. I would like to thank everyone who donated to my auction baskets, you guys are seriously creative, amazing people. I would like to thank everyone that took the time to speak with me about my platform of bridging the generational gap in our community through education. I learned so much from each and every one of you. I would like to thank everyone who ran for titles alongside me. Tori, Tig, cissycat, Master Bella and slave rooks, you guys are an amazing group of people and I consider myself lucky to be part of a family with you. I was so surprised how well we all clicked together and loved that we all decided to get matching vests! Last but not least I would like to thank everyone who makes SELF what it is: a fine oiled machine. Everyone from Lady Catherine to the volunteers checking badges at every curtain. You make this event such an awesome thing to be a part of.
I was so excited to bring all of the bags of love donated by our SELF community for RSVP home to Baton Rouge. Our community has been so blessed by all of your donations and your generosity inspired an outpouring of generosity from other communities as well. My family was honored to host Mr. Southcoast Olympus Leather, Tea, when he came to Baton Rouge to deliver the donations from his community in Jacksonville. Thanks to your generous help we were able to get a majority of the repairs done to our facility and have a grand reopening scheduled for October 15th. We are looking forward to our annual fundraising party for Halloween as well.
I am still planning all of the events that I will be attending this year as there are so many that I wish to participate in. I am a little overwhelmed with all of options for great events so if anyone has a favorite event they would like to recommend please feel free to reach out to me on social media. I am looking forward to attending as many events as possible so I can start building a network of people who are as passionate as I am about education and making our community as strong as it can be.
I am so very grateful to be your Southeast Person of Leather and I look forward to representing this title the best way I know how. I am always open to suggestions and comments so please feel free to reach out to me anytime.

Happy New Years to all of my SELF family far and wide! I hope that 2017 brings you many blessings, lots of new things to learn, lots of new things to see, and mosst of all... lots of fun kinky/leather things to experience. I hope everyone's New Year is starting off well and I just wanted to give you all a brief update on what has been happening with your SouthEast Person of Leather.
On October 15th my title mom, Autumn, came to visit. Little did I know that it was for a congratulations party that my home club of RSVP had panned to align with their grand re-opening. That's right, RSVP is reopened and we are hoping that a lot of you come to visit! The bags of hope that you guys donated as well as the gift cards helped to touch so many people in my community's lives, and for this I am forever grateful. I know I mentioned this before but we are still talking about how great our SELF family is.
Also in October I got to help with our annual auction on Halloween It was a super fun night and who doesn't love to see all the big letters grin and little letters cower as bigs went higher on wonderfully wicked things. This was a chance for a lot of people to rebuild their toy bags! It was a special weekend for everyone, but even more so for me because Miss Bettie came to visit and even dressed up as Glenda the Good Witch in my family's Wizard of Oz themed group costume. We even won the group costume contest!
One of my most important holiday events is the annual Orphan's Thanksgiving that my family hosts. This is an event that we have done for the past 6 years and it just continues to get better. My Daddy opens his business and we host a private event for all of the members of our community and their families that might not have anywhere to go on Thanksgiving. We have a huge pot luck spread and everyone sits around, eats, and visits with our chosen families. This is something that we look forward to every year and if you are ever in Baton Rouge during Thanksgiving swing on by.
The rest of 2016 was a whirlwind and as of this week I have completed my application, booked my flights, booked my hotel room and started prepping or the International Person of Leather contest. This will be held at Sin in the City in Las Vegas on February 3rd-5th. This is my first trip to Las Vegas and I am super excited to be going for such an awesome event. I am very grateful that my "leather grandmother," and a member of the SELF family, Miss Solitaire, along with members of my family will be accompanying me to IPoL. I am looking forward to making my SELF family proud of me as I compete to bring home the International title to the SouthEast.
I would still love to hear about any events that your home clubs are hosting and would love to come visit as many of these clubs as possible. Again, please feel free to reach out to me on social media and let me know!
